Uh oh!
What is this?!
Tonight Uncle P (my brother) came over and convinced LO to open Diesel up - and she went for it! lol!
Yes, she's actually HOLDING it!
And guess where it is right now....in her bed! Yes, that's right folks - she's SLEEPING with it! Hubby commented that he hopes this doesn't mean that she's going to go for "bad boys" when she gets older! lol! Wow - Uncle P works miracles! :)
Oh and here is the cool train track we made tonight! :)

Three New Dresses...and what the heck is that?!
So I made three pillow case dresses for LO - I'm thinking I need to fix the polka dot one with some thicker ribbon - but I'm pleased with how they came out:
Cherries:
Flower print that reminds me of my Nana B.:
And polka dots:
And my last project isn't quite finished yet - it still needs a strap...So I did this as a challenge to my class - we've been talking a lot about recycling, reusing, reducing and during their Valentines' Day celebration, they were drinking out of Capri Sun juice boxes and I asked them to save them for me. So I took them home, cut the bottoms out, washed them and dried them (hubby thought I was nuts until he saw the result...lol!) - so the other day, LO and I taped them together with duct tape and clear packing tape. She kept laughing saying, "Mommy tape the juice up!" I'm hoping that after vacation is over I can show them that they can reuse things to make other things. Also I hope to show them that they could also use a reusable container, rather than use ready made juice boxes - which in turn will help the environment...I might have to raffle this bag off or something... ;)

The Zoo
So we took advantage of the lovely 45 degree day and ventured out to our local zoo. Little One was great - I left the stroller in the car and we walked around the whole zoo twice (yeah, she took a nice nap afterwards)!
Here are some pictures of our visit:
This is one of the animals that was out - it's a Canadian Lynx. LO asked if she could put a leash on it like she does with Buddy - yeah, I don't think so Honey! lol
Giving the stuffed otter some love - and she was awesome about not getting anything:
A cool picture of her looking at a "bug's eye":
The Jaguars:
Hopefully when we go back in the spring more animals will be out!

You know your child is obsessed with Thomas when...
She says to you as you're going out the door, "Have fun at the Island of Sodor Mommy!"
Yes, the TV needs to be turned OFF today.
I think we'll head out to the zoo.

Bargains!
So today LO and I made the pilgrimage to the Outlets - to our favorite outlet - The Children's Place. :) See this time each year, wonderful winter clothes go on clearance - can you say, "Complete outfit for $1.98?" So I went on a little splurge and got 8 complete outfits (minus socks, tights and shoes) for under $48. Had I bought it all when it came out, I would have spent $235.00! Crazy!
So this is the stash we got for next winter:
Jeans and sweater, and hoodie, sweatpants and shirt
two pants with matching tops
Red velor outfit (these are my favorite - $1.98 baby!) and jeans and top
Another velor outfit and a possible holiday outfit (I like leopard - especially when it's cheap!)
Oh and a kitty shirt b/c LO was so good in the store! :) It can also go under the first outfit.

The Story of Diesel
Well, Little One loves Thomas and everything that has to do with Thomas - with the exception of Diesel. See, Diesel is a bad train - a VERY bad train. In the Thomas movie, he tries to kill Thomas (yeah, and you thought this was a little kid thing), then in the shows, Diesel plays nasty tricks on the trains. So LO knew early on that Diesel was bad. So flash forward to Christmas morning when my cousin (the bride) came over to give LO her present. LO opened it up and found to her dismay, DIESEL. LO actually picked it up and threw it and yelled, "NO DIESEL! DIESEL BAD!" So since that day, anytime Diesel goes near LO, she pushes it away and tells me to put it "Up high on top of the TV."
So it's sat there since December 25th. On Thursday, LO was talking about Diesel being up high and how he was bad. I asked her if I could open it and she said no. So I tried to explain to her how we could take it back to the store and get a different train. She was excited about it and even went and got a bag for me to put it in (no way was she actually going to touch the package). We went off to our local Thomas store and asked if we could exchange it. The woman told us that it was fine, but to find another in the price range. Well, of course there are only 3 others in the price range, and LO has two of them. So after 20 minutes of convincing her that she really wants "Mighty Mac", we go back to the customer service desk and the woman begins the transaction for the exchange - to which LO starts to go ballistic that we are leaving Diesel behind. So, I tell the woman to cancel it, we bring Diesel back home, and LO tells me to place him "Up high. On the TV, Mommy."
So I guess that's where he'll stay...

The Long Awaited Thomas Dress
So it's no secret that LO loves Thomas the Train and all of his (expensive) friends. I was lucky to be able to participate in a swap on craftster and get a bunch of Thomas fabrics. As soon as we opened the box, LO wanted a "Tommy Dress" - well this is what we made:
After a couple of days, I was able to get it all together and make her a real "Tommy Dress":
"Look Daddy, train butts" (that's what she calls buttons):

More words...
So tonight we're reading the Manner Book by Karen Katz and we're at the part where it says, "You broke your sister's toy. What do you say?" Well, seeing that we only have one kid, hubby tells me to say friend or cousin. So tonight we're reading the book...
Mommy: "You broke your friend's toy! What do you say?"
Daddy: "SUCKER!"
Little one: "SUCKER!"
Mommy: "No, we don't say that. Little girls don't say that."
I continue...
Mommy: "Grandma gives you a special treat. What do you say?"
Little one: "SUCKER!"

Aquarium
A couple of weekends ago when LO was feeling better, we took her to the city to the Aquarium. This place has special meaning for my hubby and I because that is where we had one of our first dates and it's where he proposed to me. :)
LO loved seeing the penguins and seeing all of the animals that are related to the beach and ocean.
Here is Daddy and LO pointing at the big fish!
Trying to "tickle" the little fish:
Playing in the tide pool with mommy:
With daddy looking at the big tank:
Wow! The turtle!
Double Wow! Two turtles and a guy in the water!
These are penguins mommy!
Look!
Loving some more turtles:
(She wouldn't let us buy her one - she just wanted to hug them all - lol!)
Playing outside with the seals!
Trying to see if she can run as fast as the seals can swim!
She's a blur because she's running "super fast":
What a fun day! :) It will be nicer when it's warmer and we can walk around more. :)
* Oh, and LO almost got a marriage proposal because she was wearing her Thomas dress! lol - One mother commented, I think I found my son's future wife! LOL!

What a ham!
I just love LO - she is just so funny!
Tonight after she had her tubby, she wanted to have her hair done in pigtails and barrettes. Then when she saw the "pretty dot dress mommy" she took off her beloved Thomas PJs and wanted the dress on...I took out the camera, and LO started hamming it up...
"This is Thomas Mommy" (Don't mind the clean laundry...):
"Time to take the dress off LO and go to bed":
"I'm serious...":
"Oh! Mommy, are you still taking pictures?":
