"Yi-yi go backyard"
Wednesdays are special days for LO - she gets picked up at daycare by Papa to spend some time with him and Na-na so I can go to my staff meetings. Today when I got there they were giving her a bath (long story) and when I was dressing LO, my mom told her to tell me what happened today with Lily (Yi-yi) their Puerto Rican Mutt. This is what LO at 22 months said, "Yi-yi go backyard. Case quir-rill. Quir-rill up tee. Backyard." What happened? Lilly was in the backyard and she chased a squirrel. The squirrel then ran up the tree in the backyard. We were all impressed with her story telling...of course then she needed to repeat it about 40 times tonight. :)
Gosh, she is too cute!

This Weekend's Project
Well, I have a confession to make - I am a pack rat. Yes, I collect junk and I store it - not so bad that I'm living in filth, but close. So lately I've been feeling that our living room has become to look like Toys R Us and it was time to make a change. See, we have this spare room - and it's suppose to be a spare bedroom, but no one really comes and stays with us...so it's been a place where we've (I've) collected stuff - things from knitting UFOs to Little One's old clothes, Old toys to old books, clothes that I wished fit me and clothes I'd never wear again...so you get the picture.
So I made it this weekend's goal to get this room into shape - I want Little One to have her own play space and I want my living room back (well, as much as I can with a little one).
So here are the pictures...
Walking in:
The bed and UFOs:
My childhood dresser holding junk:
And the door way (you can see we already took out two bins worth of stuff):
So then we visited Lowes where I picked out a nice purple paint color - Dusty Lilac - and new white paint for the trim. We also picked up a little cabinet to hide our computer modems (this room use to be our old office, so we had to keep them in there). Then I painted late last night while Little One was sleeping - and again early this morning before Hubby played golf. Then I did the trim tonight after she went to sleep. I also visited a discount carpet store to pick up the rug. I still have to hang the blinds and find/make decent curtains...oh, and find some shelves and a few more decorations...
So here is the nearly finished project 36 hours later:
Walking in:
Where the bed use to be (eventually it will have LO's bed in there) - I still need proper clips to hang the quilt:
Where I'd like some shelves (the green container contains 7 of my own cabbage patch kids from my childhood - now LO will have a place to play with them!):
This is the cabinet (don't mind the hallway - it needs a good sweeping - but the cleaners come tomorrow! So I didn't bother after all this work):
I'm so excited and proud of myself! Now to go through those bins...

NYC Visit
My mommy's best friend from college lives in NYC, so mommy decided to take me for a visit to see them! We took a long train ride where I got to play with a lot of new toys. When we got there I was really tired, but I was excited to play with my new friend, J. I was lucky to be able to attend his 2nd Birthday Party! It was a fun visit and I hope I can go back to see my friend J again sometime soon! :)
Here is my new friend J:
Here we are going down the slide:
Playing on the playground:
J. got nervous because there was another boy scoping me out - so he held my hand to show that we were friends first!
My friend J. has many talents - he can spit water out of his mouth on cue!
I have talents too:
J.'s Party:
My Favorite Toy of J.'s:
Thank you for letting us stay with you and play with your toys J! :)

God Bless You Mommy!
So this weekend, Little One and I both came down with a nasty cold - the green snot, sneezing, and coughing. So we took it real easy today. While Daddy was across the street watching football, Little One and I watched The Jungle Book. During it, I sneezed for the millionth time and LO turned to me and exclaimed, "God Bless You Mommy!"
God that girl has heart! :)

Peanut Butter Lover!
There is so much controversy over when to give a little one peanut butter - Most people say to wait until the 3rd b-day, especially if there is a history of food allergies in the family. Our pedi told us to wait at least until 18 months and then to try it, only because we don't have any food allergies or food allergies in our family history. So once little one turned 18 months, I introduced it a little at a time over the course of a few days. A reason I wanted to do it is because Little One goes to daycare and I would rather her have a reaction when I was around then when she was at daycare. KWIM? Anyways, she's not allergic and she LOVES the stuff. I hadn't given it to her in a while, but the other day I was eating it and she started asking for some. Tonight, it was the only thing she would eat for supper and I snapped up these pics:
I wonder if peanut butter makes a good facial? Hummmm....

Great Grampa Turns 92!
Hubby's Grandfather turned 92 this weekend and we were able to go see him for the big day. To our surprise, some of Hubby's cousins were able to visit with their families. It was great to see cousins who will be soon moving to Africa and Texas and far away from us. A little neat fact - Grampa has 8 great grand daughters and his first great grandson was born last weekend. :) There is another one on the way but we don't know if it's pink or blue.
Here are a few pictures from the day:

The Fair
Every fall, my mom and dad would take the family to the fair - it's the oldest agricultural fair in the United States and it's one of the best. We took Little One last year, but she was a little too young to appreciate it. This year was a lot different - she loved the animals, the rides and seeing the sights.
